Get off the beaten track and travel like the Pharaohs
Day-01, Departure for Cairo
We will meet at the airport for a short briefing and will check in as a group to board our flight to Cairo.
Day-02, Arrival at Cairo
Our Cairo representative will meet us inside the airport and will help us through the visa process, customs and immigration. We will head to our hotel in downtown Cairo. After dinner you can head to your room for a good rest and to recover from jet lag.
Overnight: 3/4 * hotel in the downtown area or similar.
Day-03, Cairo - Aswan
We start with a late morning, with breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we will meet for a briefing and a lecture on the culture and history of the country. This will give us a an over view of the Egyptian civilization and cultural practices. We will then walk to the Cairo Museum. This world renowned museum is filled with artifacts from all over Egypt. It also houses the most famous treasures of King Tut. Afterwards we will stroll through the markets and head out for lunch at a local restaurant. Relax in the afternoon and then get ready for your overnight train journey to Aswan. Our staff will escort us to the train station and get us seated for this interesting overnight journey. Dinner will be included in a local restaurant.

Day-04, Arrive at Aswan
In the morning we will arrive at the Aswan train station. We will be escorted to our hotel near the Nile. After a short rest, this afternoon, we will visit the High Dam and the fascinating Phile Temple. The entire temple was uprooted from its original position and moved to its present location piece by piece to save it from drowning in Lake Nasser. We take a motor boat to reach the temple and witness numerous scars left by various nations and kingdoms. Later we cruise around the enchanting Islands of the Nile in a motor boat. Here you will get an opportunity to ride camels to the nearby Nubian village. The visit to the local village will give us a wonderful opportunity to see how these people live in their traditional homes. Return to your hotel to enjoy the afternoon. Overnight: 3/4 * hotel. Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Day-05, Sail from Aswan
Today we take the centuries-old traditional boat, the Felucca, to sail along a breathtaking stretch of the Nile. As we sail along at the pace of the river our Nubian staff on board prepares sumptuous Nubian meals. Enjoy this unique experience. We may also have the opportunity to stop along the banks of the Nile to observe the local village life. This will be a great way for us to understand how people of this part of the world live their daily life. Enjoy the marvelous views as we cruise slowly to see the typical desert sunset. Tonight we sleep camping style on the deck of the sail boat. This most unique and amazing experience is definitely a highlight of this trip.

Day-06, Sail Along the Nile
Waking up with the sunrise on the Nile is an experience of a lifetime. Our staff will prepare a sumptuous breakfast for us. The rest of the day we will continue our cruise. We will play interesting games on the way and will get involved with unique learning activities. By this evening we will arrive at our destination at Daraw. Will have a great meal and will share songs with the Nubian staff on board. Overnight: Onboard the Sailboat. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & dinner.
Day-07, Kom Ombo - Luxor
This morning after breakfast we disembark and say good bye to our Nubian sailors. Subject to time and the weekday we may take this opportunity to see a local camel market. We head on to our private transport to see the Temple of Sobek at Kom Ombo. Later we will stop at Edfu to visit another splendid temple. We continue our drive northwards to the famous city of Luxor. Here we will be transferred to our hotel. This afternoon we will take the opportunity to visit the Luxor Temple, a grand, awe inspiring structure on the east bank of the Nile. This is the perfect time to visit the temple just a little before sunset. After sunset the temple is lit up with lights of various colours turning into a glowing gem of Egyptian antiquity.

Day-08, Luxor - Cairo
This morning we cross the Nile and head to the Valley of Kings. Our first stop is the Colossi of Memon the seated statues of King Ramses the Great. We continue to the Valley of Kings to see its impressive tombs carved through the rock. These tombs have continued to reveal amazing mysteries and treasures including those that belong to king Tut-ank-amun. On our way back to Luxor we stop to see Dar-El-Behri – The grand temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In the afternoon our guide will take us to the Karnak Temple, one of the most inspiring and most imposing monument in all of Egypt. Its enormous one hundred and thirty six pillars stand the test of time and fascinate the visitor even today. We take our time to visit and return to the hotel. This evening we will be transferred to the train station to catch the overnight train to Cairo. Overnight: Onboard the air-conditioned seating train. Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Day-09, Cairo - Alexandria
Upon arrival at Cairo. Our guide will take us for a traditional Egyptian breakfast. We will then head out straight to the famous Mediterranean city of Alexandria, once known for its glory, imposing monuments and the city of Alexander the Great, it is today’s relaxed but busy coastal city. After we check into the hotel, we will relax for the day. We will take the time to visit the beach and stroll along its interesting corniche. Overnight: 3/4 * hotel in the downtown area or similar.. Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Day-10, Alexandria - Cairo
This morning we will take the time to visit the famous site of the ancient light house, also known to be one of ancient wonders of the world. After it was destroyed in an earthquake, its remains were used to build the present day structure - the Qutubiya Palace. We will also visit the ancient Roman Catacombs. Timer permitting we will visit Pompeii’s pillar, the only significant standing structure from ancient times. We will pay a quick visit to the site of the ancient library of Alexandria. Today’s new library is a modern structure yet it maintains the ancient tradition of storing thousands and thousands of books in both digital and physical form. Late afternoon we will head out to Cairo to see another great highlight of this trip the following day. Transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for personal activities and shopping. Overnight: 3/4 * hotel in the downtown area or similar.. Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Day-11, Cairo
Our adventure starts this morning with a trip to Giza. Here we visit The Great Pyramids of ancient Egypt. We tour around the Pyramids of Chephren, Mykerionos and Cheops and then take a joyful camel ride in the open desert to see a panoramic view of this world famous site. We take our time to stroll around the site including a visit of the Sphinx that guards these Pyramids. We get a chance to witness the heavy blows dealt throughout history to this mythical creature. Return to hotel for a short break. After the break we head out to see the ancient Khan-al-khalili bazaar. The place is bustling with traditional local merchandise an excellent place to buy bargain souvenirs. Here we try out an ancient coffee house that claims that they have not closed their doors in the past three hundred years. After a farewell dinner we will try to catch some sleep before we are transferred to the airport for an early morning flight back home.
