Day 1: Arrival and transfer
Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to Entebbe Old Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Kampala. If time permits, take a tour of downtown Kampala. Overnight.
Day 2: Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Leaving Kampala, we will make our way toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. Along the way we will make a stop at the Equator for photographs, then cross from the northern to the southern hemisphere. Queen Elizabeth National Park is beautifully set between the Great Rift Valley lakes of Edward and George. During your time in the park it's hoped you'll see elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, Ugandan kobs and waterbucks. We will have an evening safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. (B-L-D)
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today we enjoy a morning safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Almost 100 mammal species and a remarkable 600+ bird species makes this a spectacular safari location, with elephants, hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and handsome Uganda kobs all regularly sighted. We will also visit the remote Ishasha Sector, famed for its tree-climbing lions. (B-L-D)
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast and a briefing by your ranger guide, get ready to enter the gorilla sanctuary. This is the adventure you’ve been waiting for. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular. Dramatic, steeply forested landscape is crisscrossed by numerous animal trails. The terrain we encounter and the time it takes to cross it depend upon today’s location of the great primates.
At just 330 kms/sq, Bwindi Forest is a very modestly sized reserve, an island of forest surrounded on all sides by intense small-scale agriculture. Remarkably, this tiny part of the planet hosts almost half of the world's wild mountain gorillas, with 400 individuals in 20 troops.
The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an amazing experience to be savoured. Many find it to be a rare and moving opportunity; a unique and unforgettable experience!
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. (B-L-D)
Day 5: Drive to Kigali – afternoon tour of Kigali and Genocide Memorial
As you leave the land of the Batwa People and the Mountain Gorillas, you will now make your way to Kigali, the capital and largest city in Rwanda. Enjoy a tour of the city, then visit the Genocide Memorial, which commemorates the Rwandan genocide in 1994. Some of the remains of over 250,000 people are kept there. At the visitor centre, you can learn about the history of Rwanda and the events leading up to the genocide, as well as how the nation has recovered from this tragic time. Overnight in Kigali. Time permitting, we will visit the market. Enjoy dinner at your leisure. (B)
Day 6: Departure
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before your driver picks you up for transport to the airport.
This completes the tour – international flight home.
